vSphere 5.0 Update 1 is out
This night, VMware published the first Update for vCenter and ESXi 5.# branch.
vSphere vCenter
For vCenter, the matching build number are :
vCenter Server 5.0 Update 1 | 15 March 2012 | Build 639890
vSphere Client 5.0 Update 1 | 15 March 2012 | Build 623373
In the nice stuff that were added/fixed, we found the guest customization support for latest OS version (specially Windows 8 and Ubuntu 11.04/10).
The fix list is really huge, so you can read as usual the full release note for vCenter 5.0 Update 1 (which is by the way a very good information source, specially with the Known Issue you’ll to check before running an update for an unfixed bug) which is available here :

This update can be downloaded from : https://www.vmware.com/download/download.do?downloadGroup=VC50U1
vSphere ESXi
For ESXi, the matching build number is :
ESXi 5.0 Update 1 | 15 MAR 2012 | Build 623860
Here is some nice stuff we’ve spotted :
- the PXE boot issue for Citrix PVS is fixed ([http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2008436](ESXi 5.0 issues with PXE booting virtual machines with Citrix Provisioning Server)), ctxblog.fr and Menhir² will be happy !
- The Windows 8 black screen issue when installing vmware tools is fixed (WDDM driver issue)
Same as vCenter, the fix list is huge, so you can read the full release note for ESXi 5.0 Update 1 here : http://www.vmware.com/support/vsphere5/doc/vsp_esxi50_u1_rel_notes.html
